Constitution Of
The Ledger
Introduction and Purpose
The Scientific Ledger establishes the observational discipline under which every descriptive framework shall stand. It exists neither to defend nor oppose any framework. Its sole purpose is to preserve faithfulness to the observational record.
The Scientific Ledger records observations, attacks, observational responses, and present standing. It does not persuade, negotiate, advocate or grant explanatory privilege. The observations remain unchanged. The ledger remains faithful to them.
Constitution
The Scientific Ledger holds no position, possesses no preferred framework and grants no explanatory privilege.
Every descriptive claim enters under identical observational obligation.
The observational commitments are not assigned by the investigators. They arise from the descriptive claims themselves under the discipline established by this protocol.
The observations remain unchanged.
The ledger records only whether a descriptive claim remains faithful to the observations.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Equal Standing
Every proposed description enters under identical observational obligation. Established, traditional, novel, majority and minority descriptions all stand before the same ledger under the same discipline.
Observational Commitments
Before any attack begins, the observational commitments carried by a descriptive claim are openly identified. The ledger neither invents nor modifies those commitments. It records them so every framework is examined according to its own descriptive obligations.
Research Discipline
Every observation receives its strongest available attack.
Every successful attack changes the framework.
Every unsuccessful attack enlarges the observational ledger.
Neither outcome is considered failure.
Both advance the investigation.
Faithfulness
The integrity of the Scientific Ledger depends upon faithfulness to the observations. It is not faithful to tradition, novelty, authority or any particular framework. The observational record alone determines the present standing of every descriptive claim.
Closing Observation
The Scientific Ledger belongs to no framework.
It belongs to the observations.
Every framework stands before it.
None stand above it.
The ledger remains permanently open. Every future observation possesses equal authority to strengthen, revise or overturn the present standing of every descriptive claim.
