Introduction
The first ledger established the method of this investigation: observation before interpretation.
This second ledger marks the beginning of direct observation. Our attention turns to Dopplergrams, not as illustrations, but as measurements of motion across the visible surface of the Sun. Before asking why the Sun behaves as it does, we first ask what its measured motions reveal.
Why Dopplergrams
HMI Dopplergrams record line-of-sight velocity across the solar disk. They reveal coherent oscillatory motion, global rotation and localized velocity patterns. They provide one of the clearest observational windows into the Sun’s dynamic behavior and form the foundation of modern helioseismology.
Initial Objectives
• Retrieve a continuous sequence of HMI Dopplergrams
• Distinguish global rotation from oscillatory motion
• Identify persistent oscillation bands
• Compare oscillation patterns with visible solar structures
• Document observations before proposing mechanisms
Observations to Record
Every observation should answer:
• What repeats?
• What changes?
• What remains stable?
• Where do boundaries appear?
• Do visible structures correspond to measurable oscillatory organization?
• What deserves further measurement?
Working Principle
This ledger does not attempt to explain the Doppler patterns. Its purpose is to establish a disciplined observational record from which future measurements, comparisons and interpretations can proceed.
Where the Sun Leads Next
Following the first Dopplergram audit, the investigation will begin constructing the Solar Resonance Atlas by comparing measured oscillatory behavior with sunspots, active regions, coronal structures and long-lived organizational features.
