Summary
Earth is a single electromagnetic system, not two disconnected layers. A fast, thin ocean of flayed atoms (the ionosphere) catches solar coherence almost instantly; a dense ocean of dissolved ions (the seas) receives, stores and redistributes it slowly. Together they form one continuous planetary EMF circuit linked through the magnetosphere and the molten core.
Measured Data
(illustrative)
| Layer | Ion Density (ions m⁻³) | Typical Conductivity (S m⁻¹) | Role |
| Ionosphere (F2 layer, storm) | 10¹³ – 10¹⁴ | 10⁻³ – 10⁻⁴ | Fast plasma coupling |
| Ocean (sea water) | ≈ 3 × 10²⁶ | ≈ 4 | Dense ionic reservoir |
Mobility in the ionosphere is many orders of magnitude higher; capacity in the oceans is vastly larger. The two together complete the Earth–Sun coupling loop.
Mechanism of Coupling
Solar IMF → magnetopause (Æ gateway) → field-aligned currents → ionosphere (flayed atoms) → atmosphere → oceanic ions → core. Energy and coherence flow continuously through these media, each translating field structure into mechanical, chemical or thermal expression according to its density and mobility.
Formulation of the Law
Descriptive form:
The efficiency of solar-to-planetary electromagnetic coupling is determined by the combined ion density, ion mobility and field geometry between the upper and lower ionic oceans of Earth.
Symbolic form:
η = k · n^α · μ^β · g(θ)
where η is coupling efficiency, n ion density, μ ion mobility, θ the field-geometry Angle of Encounter (Æ), g(θ) a geometric function describing alignment and k a planetary constant to be empirically determined. The exponents α and β represent sensitivity of efficiency to density and mobility; their values await measurement.
Implications
• Earth is unique in combining a mobile plasma ocean above and a dense ionic ocean below, both electromagnetically coupled to a molten, conductive core.
• This dual-ocean structure explains how geomagnetic storms can produce rapid, planet-wide responses in the atmosphere, oceans and technological systems.
• It reframes the magnetic field as an active, saturating medium linking Sun, sky, and sea, not as a passive shield.
Lexicon Entries
Flayed Atom:
An atom or molecule whose outer electrons have been displaced or stripped, leaving it highly receptive to electromagnetic coupling and ready to form new structures upon encounter.
Manifestation of Light:
The appearance of quantized light at the point where a system in a potential state encounters the geometry or field necessary for that state to resolve. This replaces the term emission to avoid implying traveling photons.
Closing
Above us: a fast, thin ocean of flayed atoms.
Beneath us: a slow, dense ocean of ions.
Between them: the medium we breathe.
All coupled through the magnetosphere and the core.
This is Earth’s true structure, no other known planet matches it.
